Scioto Audubon:
Learn to Lead - Sport (four hour course)

Learn to lead climb at the Scioto Audubon Metro Park. We will cover the fundamentals of sport lead climbing including safety concepts, belay techniques, clipping, and setting up an anchor. All practice leading will be done with the safety of a backup top rope system.  Participants should be comfortable climbing 5.8+ on top rope and should be familiar with top rope belay technique.

Multiple Locations: 
Learn to Lead - Sport (1 or 2 day course)

Our full day lead climbing courses will cover the fundamentals of leading along with alternative anchor techniques, route cleaning and rappel setup. Two day courses can be arranged in Red River Gorge, KY or New River Gorge, WV and will cover advanced climbing technique in addition to the above. All practice leading will be done with the safety of a backup top rope system. Participants should be comfortable climbing 5.8+ on top rope and should be familiar with top rope belay technique and standard climbing knots.

Learn to Lead - Trad (2 day course)

Trad courses will be held in Red River Gorge, KY, New River Gorge, WV or Seneca Rocks, WV. Learn to place gear in a safe and knowledgeable environment with our AMGA certified single pitch instructors. This course covers the fundamentals of trad leading including an introduction to the types of protection you will use, gear placement concepts, gear cleaning, safety education and crack climbing concepts. Learn about the most technical climbing discipline in a safe and encouraging environment. No rack required, however participants should be comfortable leading sport climbs 5.8+ and should have familiarity with basic outdoor climbing concepts.

Anchor Building & Top Rope Site Mgmt.

This class covers multiple anchor building techniques as well as additional knowledge needed to set up and run a top rope site. Guides will introduce concepts and participants will practice rigging with natural anchors (trees/boulders) and artificial anchors (bolts/gear).
